What is Depression?
Depression is characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or a lack of interest in once-enjoyable activities. It can last days, return repeatedly, and significantly impact daily functioning. Everyone feels sad occasionally, but depression can last for days or weeks.
Common symptoms of depression include changes in sleep patterns, appetite, and energy levels, as well as difficulties in concentration, decision-making, and feelings of worthlessness or guilt. My clients often report struggling with a lack of motivation, a sense of purposelessness, and a lack of joy in their lives. Thankfully, therapy is an effective way to address depression and help put your life back on track.
How do you treat Depression?
Depression is a treatable condition; you don't have to feel stuck forever. Our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions all contribute to our mood. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) offers many useful tools to address unhelpful habits and reframe negative thoughts that keep us stuck in a depressed mood. Together, we will manage your symptoms and process the root causes of your depression.
